WHY an OCA cover? They are more expensive than the 'one size fits all' solution but 'you get what you pay for' - Our covers are custom made to model specific patterns using a material developed by us designed for the harshest of environments. An OCA cover will (with the proper care) give many years service, we have customers all over the world from Iceland to New Zealand and over 30,000 covers in use to date.

When you bought your boat it probably came with a cover for the hull. The engine is likely to have cost as much as the boat itself - so why aren't you protecting it with a cover too?

All the covers are made from Polysoft®, a marine grade material that is UV, sun, salt and water proof. Click here for more details.

Full Covers - Storage
When your boat is out of the water it is exposed to all the elements. Sun, rain, snow as well as falling debris and bird droppings. There are also lots of nice places for insects to hide and nest.

The engines in these pictures will not be in great shape when their owners come to use them again! Would you store your engine like this?

Not doing anything!

The prop will corrode

Why?

Moisture will build up

Using a plastic tarpaulin or bag will do more damage than good - put your hand in a plastic bag and leave it in the sun for 10 minutes, the same will happen to your motor.

Our covers are made to enable any water left in the engine to drain out of the bottom and the soft lining protects the paintwork. The cover will not 'stick' to the engine casing as plastic or vinyl ones will.

Full Covers - Towing
If you tow your boat you will know how dirty it gets on wet roads. Our covers are very tough and will protect the engine from all that UK roads throw at them. You take time washing it on the slipway only to find it covered in road grime when you get home.

If required we can add a High Visibility strip to your Full Cover and you can then throw away that cumbersome prop bag.

Full Covers - Tender Engines
If you have a tender outboard stored on your yacht, this will be getting a regular dose of all the elements combined with salt! this will reduce it's working life dramatically. We make covers for all sizes so for a small investment you can make sure your tender has a working engine. We can also print your boat name on it.

Splash Cover
Made from the same material as the full cover. These are designed to be left on the engine whilst you are using it. They have been fully tested and do not effect the peformance of the engine. In some cases they improve it as they enable the engine to run cooler. Great for protecting the cowling when skiis, fishing rods or anything else are being used on your boat.

Measuring Leg Length
There are a couple of ways of working out the leg length of your motor:

1. View the "ID badge"number of the motor which is usually located on the mounting bracket or just under the head of the motor near the top of the leg. Make a note of this information and write in on the box provided on the order form.

Yamaha: . Picture 1. This motor has a long leg other may say 'S' or 'X'

Mercury/ Mariner: See picture 2. 2003 is the year, 60 is the size in HP the ELPTO tells us everything we need to know about that motor

Johnson/Evinrude: See picture 3. Please provide the model number circled & the serial if you can.

Tohatsu: Please provide the model number and serial number if possible as outlined below.

Honda: Please provide the model number and serial number if possible as outlined below.

Suzuki: Please provide the model number and serial number if possible & measure as outlined below.

1. Yamaha ID Badge

2. Mercury/Mariner ID Badge

3. Johnson/Evinrude ID Badge

4. Total height of motor required for leg length

2. The other easier way is to simply measure the motor from the very top to the very bottom (include the fin or skeg) side on is usually the best. All measurements should be in centimeters please. See picture 4.

What is Trim and Tilt?
Trim and Tilt is a term used for if your motor has electric lifting or not! Can you push a button either on the motor or on the throttle or near there to make your motor go up and down (or both)? If so, you have trim and tilt, if not you only have manual trim and tilt and we will need to leave a hole in the cover for you to get your hand in to pull the motor up.

Y Forks or Motor Holder Bracket?
What are we talking about? Simply put, there is an "after market" bracket that can be fitted that comes from your trailer up to above your cavation plate that looks like a 'Y'. The motor can rest in this and it is designed to take the strain off the motor when traveling on bouncy roads. Our covers do not interfere with these as long as the' Y part is padded with a little rubber of foam to protect our zip from being crunshed in bottom of the 'Y'.

Year of the Motor?
What year is my motor? Most outboard motors have the year etc printed on the ID badge, unfortunately 40% of the brands available don't which does creates a problem for us. We have around 800 different motor patterns going back to the 1970's. How can we find out how old your motor is? Please include the Serial and model number and we can usually tell from this information. If you are unsure please send us a digital photo sales@outboardcovers.co.uk with a note mentioning your order. We will call you back and try and work out over the phone what motor year you have, normally we can do this in about 2 minutes.
